Note for importers: as of January 1, 2026 a customs broker’s business number can no longer be used to release commercial goods on an importer’s behalf. Importers of record must be registered in the CARM Client Portal with financial security posted, or CBSA will hold the shipment at the border regardless of carrier compliance.
